Weekly Update
Week of February 17, 2020
Thank you, thank you, thank you!! I appreciate your generous help with donations and time during our Valentine's Day party. The kids had a great time.
Word Work: Our class will be learning about the variant vowel /oo/ syllable patterns this week. Our syllable pattern makes the /oo/ sound in words like moon, soup, screw, and glue. Students should read their word lists, discuss the meaning of the words, and practice spelling words with similar syllable patterns. Spelling City is ready for students to access the practice list for the week.
Book Orders: The book order forms for February came home last week Tuesday and will be due this Tuesday, February 18th. Let me know if you have any questions.
Spring Conferences: On Monday I will be sending home letters about spring conferences. Conferences will be primarily done on an "as needed basis" for students needing additional academic, social, or emotional support. I know that some parents may want to meet regardless of whether their student falls into this category. You will have a chance to indicate your preference and return the form to me. I will be conferencing on March 2nd, 3rd, and 4th, after school and into the evening.
Math Fact Practice: Yikes! It is almost March with Spring Break around the corner, and we all know how fast the end of the year comes after that. Second graders on Math Fact Levels B and C should be practicing their flashcards nightly. If they do not know where their flashcards are (the cards should be traveling back and forth in their take home folder), then please have them get another set from me.
