Weekly Word Rule: This week our word rule will center around the open syllable pattern. This includes words like me, dry, lady, donut, and spoken. The words are on Spelling City for practice.

Stuffed A Truck: Stuff A Truck begins this week.  If possible, please donate non-perishable food items such as canned goods, cereal, rice, and boxed foods. Toiletries such as soap, shampoo, toothbrushes, and toothpaste are also needed. Our goal is to fill the box in our classroom with as many items as we can by November
Halloween Costumes: This year we will be wearing our costumes the entire day.  Please be mindful of the complexity of the costume when sending in your child’s costume.  Please label all parts of your child’s costume.
Pumpkin Characters:  Thank you to the parents that were able to join us to help create our pumpkin characters Friday.  The cast of characters are being displayed in the hallway until Wednesday, Oct. 30th. Students will bring their pumpkins home after school.  

Second Grade Music Program:  Stay tuned for more details about our 2nd grade music program, “Squirm” on November 21st at 6:00 p.m.  There will also be an afternoon performance during school from 3:00 p.m. on that same day.

First Week:  It was a wonderful first week in second grade!  Mrs. Laukus and I are excited about all the great learning we have ahead of us.  Thank you for sharing your children and being a part of our Lincoln School Family.   Nightly Reading:  Students are expected to read every night.  This week students are expected to read for 10 minutes each night.   If you have been reading throughout the summer and your child's reading stamina is greater than 10 minutes, please continue your routine.  The 2nd grade goal is for all children to read independently for a minimum of 20 minutes. They should be able to read fluently, retell the information, and answer a variety of questions accurately.  Back to
