Nightly Reading: Students are expected to read every night for 15 min. Please record nightly

Word Work: On Monday, our class will begin our first 2nd grade unit using the closed
syllable pattern. The following words are examples of this pattern: damp, stem, shelf,
trap, bench, brush, went, stomp, went, quick. Students are encouraged to use

Back to School Night: I am looking forward to Back to School Night. Be sure to
go by the office sometime that evening. There will be a table with most of the teacher sign-up
pages for conferences.

NWEA TESTING: Our second grade students will be taking the NWEA (math) on Tuesday,
September 17th. There is no preparation for this assessment except students who get an ample
amount of sleep and eat healthy breakfasts are known to do better at school. Please help your
child perform at his/her best each day by having a regular bedtime schedule and ensuring he/she
has eaten a healthy breakfast before coming to school. (Remember breakfast is served at Lincoln
at 8:00 a.m.)

you send in your book order to me please mark your book selection clearly and send your payment
in a marked envelope with student's name and "Scholastic Book Order". If writing a check, please make
it payable to Scholastic Book Clubs. Please place your orders by the morning of Tuesday,
