Homework: We do not have homework.
Parent Teacher Conferences: Thank you for attending Parent Teacher Conferences.  I
appreciate you taking time from your busy schedule to come in and work together on
your child’s 2nd grade year.  If we haven’t had an opportunity to meet yet, I am looking
forward to meeting with you soon.
Weekly Word List:  This week your child will be learning words that follow the VCe
rule.  This rule includes words like made, globe, quite, escape, and suppose.   The
words can be found on Spelling City to practice. On Tuesday, students will have a
word work sheet for homework that practices this rule.

Math Center Practice Reminder: Your child may complete the test in 1 of 3 ways......

  1.  Fill in the answers with no timer completing the entire page.
2.  Set a timer to 2 minutes and have him/her complete as many facts as possible.  When the
timer goes off, your child should draw a line after the last problem then finished and
complete the rest of the sheet.
3.  Time your child while he/she completes the entire page and write the time on the top of the
page. This is similar to running a race. This time is the time to beat as the math facts get
easier to remember.

First Week:  It was a wonderful first week in second grade!  Mrs. Laukus and I are excited about all the great learning we have ahead of us.  Thank you for sharing your children and being a part of our Lincoln School Family.   Nightly Reading:  Students are expected to read every night.  This week students are expected to read for 10 minutes each night.   If you have been reading throughout the summer and your child's reading stamina is greater than 10 minutes, please continue your routine.  The 2nd grade goal is for all children to read independently for a minimum of 20 minutes. They should be able to read fluently, retell the information, and answer a variety of questions accurately.  Back to
